That's a wrap on Hills to Helipad 2026! Ski patrollers, mountain guides, SAR volunteers, emergency managers, police and air rescue crews from across Canterbury came together for an afternoon of joint training — building the relationships, communication and shared skills that matter when it counts on the hill.

What we covered

The day ran as rotating clinical workshops with the GCH Aviation medical team — The Survey (primary & secondary assessment), The Airway, The Pulse (high-performance CPR & AED), The Bleed (major haemorrhage control) and The Break (fracture management & analgesia) — alongside helicopter safety and a platform walkaround, an AvaLife refresher, a simulated mass burial scenario bringing it all together with air rescue integration, and an Alpine Cliff Rescue winch demonstration to finish.
